Writing without using one letter
This is great for exercising creativity and is a ton of fun. I was inspired by an episode of 'How I Met Your Mother' where Barney was challenged to get a girl's number without using the letter 'E':
Some of my students wrote amazing short stories doing this! Here are a few. See if you can tell which letter each student couldn't use. (Hint: they're all vowels)

“Is that it?”
“You know it.”
“Can I touch it?”
“Follow Muma Rat.”
Two small pink tails drag along a musty wood floor. A gold lump of Colby lay in front of two hungry rats. Its strong aroma drifts past Baby Rat's small pink sniffing button. Baby Rat looks at it, drooling and licking its pink lips. Baby Rat puts a paw forward to touch it.
“Stop!” Muma Rat spat. Baby Rat pulls back in shock.
“Look.” Muma Rat points.
“What's it sitting on Muma? What is it?” Baby Rat curiously starts to sniff and looks at the slab of wood Colby is lying on top of.
“It’s a trap.” Muma said, tail drooping.
Baby Rat hops back in fright.
“What now Muma?”
“Nuts for lunch.” Muma Rat grunts.
